Authorities have identified the Monmouth County motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on Route 18 in Colts Neck, authorities said. Vladimir Gorelov, 20, of Eatontown, died in the wreck on Tuesday, Apr. 9, a Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson said. UPDATE: A New Jersey police officer did nothing wrong in pursuing a stolen motorcycle whose driver ended up dying in a subsequent crash, a grand jury has ruled. Despite the obvious circumstances, state law and administrative guidelines required New Jersey Attorney Matthew Platkin to investigate the death last April 20 of John R. Nutt, 41, of Mount Laurel because a law enforcement officer was involved. Ocean County Motorcyclist, 50, Killed After Striking Tree: State Police
A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Ocean County was killed in a crash in Burlington County, authorities said. New Jersey State Troopers responded to the crash at 7:36 p.m. Sunday, June 25 on Route 653 eastbound at milepost 0.5 in Bass River, they said. Christopher Golden, of Tuckerton, was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle which ran off the roadway to the left and struck a tree, a State Police spokesman said. A Cumberland County man died of his injuries from a motorcycle crash, authorities said. Jason Derby, 50, of Commercial Township, was riding eastbound on Route 767 in the township at about 7:30 a.m. on May 26. Derby's motorcycle left the road and struck two street signs and a tree, according to New Jersey State Police. Derby suffered serious injuries and died the next day, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
