Man Found Dead In Fire At Homeless Encampment Under Atlantic City Boardwalk
A man was found dead in a fire that started at a homeless encampment under the Atlantic City Boardwalk, authorities said. Bruce Eder, 67, who last lived in Atlantic City, was killed in the fire, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. The fire started near 1400 Boardwalk and South Tennessee Avenue at around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 18. More than a dozen people have been arrested in a wave of violence and killings that marred the beginning of 2024 in Atlantic City, authorities said. Atlantic City police arrested 17 people in several operations targeting "areas of violence" from January, the department announced on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
