A car fire was delaying traffic on Interstate 287, authorities said. The fire was reported at about 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 12 northbound on I-287 south of Exit 2 in Edison Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. A left lane was closed, 511nj.org reported.

A car fire on a New Jersey roadway has been linked to the shooting of two Philadelphia police officers that left one dead on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, authorities said. Hundreds of thousands of Subaru SUVs are the latest vehicles subject to a nationwide recall due to the potential they could unexpectedly catch fire. The auto giant announced a recall of 271,694 Subaru Ascent SUVs with produced in the 2019 through 2022 model years due to a faulty electrical grounding bolt that may have been improperly fastened, according to the company. A car fire closed one lane of the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County, authorities said. The fire was reported at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10 on the parkway northbound north of Exit 117 in Aberdeen Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. A mother from Atlantic County says a Good Samaritan rescued her son, Zahir Davis, and his teenage friend from a burning car. In a post on Facebook, Aseealah Davis said a woman named Jackie stopped by the flaming car in Mays Landing on the way home from work. The incident happened on Tuesday night, May 17. The unidentified Good Samaritan is believed to be from Buena. "We would like to do something for Jackie,'' Davis wrote, asking for help identifying the hero.
