An alert South Brunswick officer captured a suspect wanted for seriously injuring a pedestrian in a hit-n-run crash in Pennsylvania. On Jan. 28, South Brunswick Officer Matthew Hagood was on patrol on Route 1 when he observed a red pickup truck drive by him. A drug kingpin who headed a network that slung fentanyl and meth in South Jersey and the suburbs of Philadelphia while he hid from his pursuers was sentenced Thursday to a plea-bargained 18 years in federal prison. Glenn Long, 29, of Philadelphia, must serve just about all of the time he received in U.S. District Court in Camden on Jan. 4 because there’s no parole in the federal prison system. Trenton Police ID Man, 85, Killed In Pedestrian Crash
Trenton police have identified the 85-year-old who died as a result of a pedestrian crash on Sunday night, March 5. Dowell Houston of Trenton was struck and killed on Route 29 at South Warren Street at about 9:30 p.m., according to a Trenton police spokesman. The driver of the vehicle — Jessica Rose Hesser, 21, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania — was issued motor vehicle summonses, according to Detective Lt. Nathan Bolognini. Hesser had not been criminally charged as of Tuesday, March 7, Bolognini said.

Feds: Men From Philly, South Jersey Admit Roles In Major Meth, Fentanyl Trafficking Network
UPDATE: A man from Philadelphia and another from South Jersey admitted their roles in a major drug trafficking ring that dealt meth and fentanyl, federal authorities said. Kevin Salmon, 25, had 5½ pounds of meth and two guns in his home when it was raided by authorities, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip R. Sellinger said. Salmon had served as a courier for a major drug-trafficking network that "distributed large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl," the U.S. attorney said. A second defendant, John Munson, 47, of Deptford, admitted selling meth as part of the operation, he said. …

Miranda, of New Brunswick, punched a 70-year-old man in the face, knocking him out, before emptying his pockets and stealing his cash, Bensalem police said. A father and son from Pennsylvania got the surprise of a lifetime from a humpback whale while fishing on the Jersey Shore — and they got it on video. Zach Piller, 23, of Bensalem, took his phone out to capture his dad Doug's catch while fishing off coast of Belmar on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Authorities are searching for a New Jersey man who they say assaulted and robbed and an elderly man in Pennsylvania. An arrest warrant was issued for Tyrick Miranda, of New Brunswick, on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault in the undated incident, Bensalem police said in a Thursday, Oct. 6 news release. Two people have been charged in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy at a New Jersey gas station over the weekend.
