Carlucci Leads Highway Cleanup In Congers CONGERS -- State Sen. David Carlucci, D-Rockland/Westchester, partnering with Keep Rockland Beautiful, will hold his annual highway cleanup Wednesday morning along Route 304. Joining Carlucci will be 55 volunteers, including members of the New City Cub Scout Pack 46 and the Rockland County Civil Air Patrol. They will meet at Dr. Davies Farm, 306 Route 304, Congers. The cleanup will take place from 9-11 a.m.

Westchester Accepts Applications For Heating Assistance WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Westchester County Department of Social Services is now accepting applications from income-eligible people who need help paying heating bills, County Executive Rob Astorino announced. The funds are available through the Home Energy Assistance Program, a federally funded initiative. New York Legislature Will Convene For 57 Days In 2016 ALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York State Legislature will meet for 57 days next year, according a report in nystateofpolitics.com. Lawmakers will convene for the first time in 2016 on Jan. 6, the day Gov. Bridgeport Police: Driver Charged With Nearly Hitting Two Officers BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Milford man is facing reckless endangerment charges after he nearly hit an officer with his Cadillac on Fairfield Avenue on Thursday, Bridgeport police said. An officer reported the incident over the radio, and said the car drove onto Interstate 95 northbound at Pine Street, police said.
