A strong contingent of athletes and para athletes from Maryland and Virginia are headed to the Paris Olympics.
A total of 24 athletes from Maryland and 15 from Virginia have all qualified for the Olympics and are ready to make their run at the gold when events kick off Friday, July 26.

Dog Bite Is Demise For Sex Offender On The Run In Maryland, Cops Say
A Maryland man wanted for sex crimes was arrested in Pennsylvania, all because of his dog, police said.
Pennsylvania State Police troopers responded to a call of a "dog bite victim" on Tuesday, April 30 along a stretch of East King Street in Abbotstown, they said in a release.
There, they found Jeffrey Garcia, 31, of Rockville, MD, the dog's owner, police said. It wouldn't take long for troopers to discover that Garcia was wanted on two warrants for sex assault out of Maryland, PSP said.
Garcia was arrested without incident and taken to the Adams County Prison for his arraignment.

Street Racer Charged In Crash That Killed 28-Year-Old Montgomery County Man
A man involved in a deadly street racing crash in Montgomery County early last year has turned himself in to face charges, police said Tuesday, March 19.
Aaron Givens, 33, was charged on a warrant with negligent homicide by vehicle, criminally negligent homicide by vehicle and driving a vehicle in a race/speed contest.
Givens, of Silver Spring, turned himself in to Montgomery County Police headquarters on Monday, March 4.

Montgomery County Medical Building Evacuated Due To Possible Nitrogen Leak
A possible nitrogen leak cleared a medical building and prompted a HazMat response in Montgomery County Monday morning, officials said.
The leak occurred in a suite on the second floor at 1201 Locks Rd. near Wootton Parkway in Rockville shortly before 9:50 a.m., MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
The building was evacuated as HazMat crews responded to investigate and provide ventilation.

These Maryland Cities Among Most Culturally Diverse In The US, New Study States
Several Maryland cities were ranked among the USās most culturally diverse in a new study by personal finance company WalletHub.
The study breaks down the cultural diversity of more than 500 cities using key indicators like ethnoracial diversity, linguistic diversity, and birthplace diversity, according to 2024 US Census Bureau data.
WalletHub ranked the top five ethnically diverse cities as:
1. Gaithersburg, MD
2. Jersey City, NJ
3. Germantown, MD
4. Silver Spring, MD
5. Kent, WA
Rockville, MD ranked at no. 8 on the list, as well.
