State Of Emergency Declared Maryland With Foot Of Snow Possible Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and mobilized members of the state's National Guard ahead of a winter storm that is expected to bring up to 12 inches to the lower Eastern Shore. The emergency declaration includes Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. A blizzard warning is now in effect for Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. Virginia National Guard Deployed To Help With Snow Storm Several days after a snowstorm clogged I-95 in Virginia and left thousands of commuters stranded for hours, the state's national guard has been activated to help with a second snowstorm. The Virginia National Guard has staged approximately 40 Soldiers and Airmen for severe winter weather response duty on Jan. 6. About 20 Soldiers are on duty in the Southwest Virginia area and ready to respond, and about 20 Airmen are mustered in the Virginia Beach area.
