The event was held on Feb. 5 and featured 15 chefs who cooked samples of gourmet fare for approximately 150 guests at the event that raised over $7,500 for STAR’s programs and services.
Participating restaurants were Dolce of Norwalk, Don Carmelo’s, Osteria Romana, Sugar & Olives, Pontos Taverna, Romanacci, SoNo Brewhouse, A Dash of Salt Catering, KAZU Sushi, Chocolate Rain Candy Shoppe.The Little Pub, Michael Joseph’s Restaurant and Catering, Wave Hill Breads, Down East Seafoods, Highland Imports and Greens Farms Spirit Shop.
Musical groups performed at the event including STAR’s own Rubberband, a rock and roll group of performers with developmental disabilities and staff members from STAR. Also, the event included a special performance by The Extras, a local rock and roll band. In addition, a special Chinese auction was held of desirable wines, gift items and restaurant certificates.
All proceeds went to STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way’s programs and services for infants, children, adults and seniors who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Katie Banzhaf, STAR’s executive director, said “This was a very special community event that brought together area chefs, foodies and STAR supporters. We have enjoyed these events at Aitoro’s and are grateful to all our supporters.”
