Storm Forces Closing Of Greenwich School Facilities For Weekend GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Town of Greenwich releases the following snowstorm-related announcements:All Greenwich Public School buildings are closed Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24 -- including Greenwich High School, where the SAT exam was scheduled to be administered.  All activities using Greenwich school facilities are cancelled with the exception of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m.  This concert will proceed as scheduled.

Yonkers Animal Shelter Seeks Shoe Donations To Benefit Animals YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers Animal Shelter is asking the public for donations of used shoes, sneakers and boots to help benefit finding animals new homes. The shelter has found a company that is willing to pay them by the pound for these items, and the money will be used to help spay, neuter and train the animals for their future adopting homes. The old shoes will be donated to charities in need of them. Shoe donations are being collected until Sept. 20 and may be brought to the shelter. Dorothy H. Picken, Former Science Teacher In Yonkers, 69 YONKERS, N.Y. -- Dorothy H. Picken, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died on Sunday, Aug. 30, of cancer. She was 69. She was a school teacher for many years and retired as the head of the science department at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers. Picken is survived by her sister Betty (Paul) Neglia and Susan (Gordon) Hunger. . Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.  Funeral service will take place at F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., 732 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, on Thursday at noon, with the interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
