George Mason University Will Freeze Tuition For In-State Students: Report George Mason University has become Virginia's last public college to freeze in-state tuition, according to Richmond.com. The Fairfax County school voted to comply with Gov. Glenn Youngkin's request, and mandate that all in-state students pay the same tuition every year, the website said. GMU is Virginia's largest public school and charges in-state students $13,000 for tuition and fees, along with another $13,000 for room and board, Richmond.com said. 21-Year-Old Suspect Nabbed For Prince William County Burglary: Police A suspect is in police custody after he beat up a man at a Prince William County inn, officials said. At around midnight on Sept. 29, two men approached the 24-year-old victim at the Potomac Inn, in the 13900 block of Richmond Highway, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Longtime CBS White House Correspondent William Plante Dead At 84: Report D.C. native and former CBS White House correspondent William "Bill" Plante has died at 84 years old, CBS News said. Aside from his 52 years at CBS News, Plante also served four tours in Vietnam and covered numerous historical events, like the civil rights movement and decades of presidential elections, the website said. Plante is remembered for his presence in White House press conferences. New Details, Video Released Of ATM Burglars Terrorizing Fairfax County Fairfax County police believe the same burglars have struck in the area, at least four times in the past few months, officials said. Most recently, early on Sept. 22, a few men went to the BP gas station, located at 6540 Edsall Road, and tried to use a crowbar to force their way into the station, according to Fairfax County Police Department. Manassas Man Behind Bars For Sexual Assault Of Young Relative: Police A Manassas man was recently arrested in connection to the sexual assault of his juvenile family member back in 2020, police said. Cruz Sanchez, 43, sexually assaulted the victim, who was between the ages of 11 and 12 at the time, in a Manassas home sometime during 2020, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The juvenile told another family member, who contacted police to report Cruz's crime, officials said. Elderly Woman Killed Inside Home, DC Police Offer $25K Reward For Information A 73-year-old woman was found dead inside a D.C. home, police said. On Sept. 25, officers arrived at the scene in 5100 block of 2nd Street, where they found Gloria Williams, who had suffered apparent trauma, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities reported. Police said William's autopsy revealed that she had been stabbed and her death was ruled a homicide. 11-Year-Old Runaway Sought By Leesburg Police Leesburg law enforcement announced on Thursday, Sept. 29, that they are searching for a young boy who recently disappeared, officials said. Josiah Timbers, 11, is believed to have disappeared voluntarily, but is considered endangered due to his age, according to the Leesburg Police Department. Hurricane Ian: McLean Artfest Cancelled Due To Predicted Rainfall, Report Says McLean Project for the Arts has cancelled their annual Artfest, due to anticipated rain showers from Hurricane Ian, InsideNOVA.com reported. Drunk Registered Sex Offender Causes Scene In Stafford County: Police A man was arrested for drunk driving in Stafford County and causing a major scene, police said.On Sept. 28 at around 7:45 a.m., officers found a Hyundai Sonata lodged in an embankment at the intersection of Mountain View Road and Kellogg Mill Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. DC Murder Suspect, 23, Arrested Two Years After Shooting: Police D.C. police have arrested a suspect in connection with a 2020 murder, officials said. On Feb. 12, 2020, 60 year-old Barron Goodwin was found with a gunshot wound in the 800 block of 51st Street, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The bullet that hit Goodwin was allegedly shot through the window of a home, the Washington Post reported. Goodwin was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. Over two years later, police arrested 23 year-old Ky’Lee Palmer for first degree murder while armed, officials said.
