Threat Closes Middle School In Lehigh County
A Lehigh County school district canceled classes Thursday, Sept. 8 after a threat was made against a middle school, according to various news reports. In an email announcement to the school district, Superintendent Dr. Mark Madson said the message, received Wednesday, Sept. 7, threatened the students and staff at Orefield Middle School. District officials quickly decided to close the school since the bus parking garage is near the building.

Villanova University officials have issued a safety alert, warning students and staff to be on the lookout for a man who has been caught loitering on campus multiple times in the last year. Eugene Hammen, 40, of Newtown, first broke into an unoccupied student dorm room in Good Counsel Hall over the fall semester break in October 2021, said David G. Police in Delaware County are seeking the public's help in locating a wanted man. Abdul Rafi Muhsin is wanted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with an incident that happened in May, Upper Darby police said. Muhsin is known to frequent parts of Philadelphia, particularly the Germantown/Mount Airy/West Oak Lane sections, police said.
