Allentown Native Amanda Seyfried Goes On Police Ride Along In Philly's Kensington Neighborhood
Amanda Seyfried stopped by the Philadelphia Police Department's 26th District this week. The "Mean Girls" actress joined author Liz Moore for a ridealong in Philly's Kensington section on Tuesday, Jan. 23, according to officers. Seyfried will play the lead role in a TV adaptation of Moore's book, "Long Bright River,” in which a Philly cop searches for her missing sister in Kensington, police said. Seyfried, 38, was born and raised in Allentown and graduated from William Allen High School in 2003, according to her online bio.

Dieruff High School Student Brough Gun To Campus: APD
An Allentown teenager faces criminal charges after authorities say he showed up to school with a gun Tuesday morning, Dec. 19. City police were called to Dieruff High School about a possibly armed student around 10:30 a.m., the department said in a release. A school resource officer and responding APD officers eventually located the student, "who had been in possession of a firearm on school property," authorities said. Allentown High Schooler Accused Of Making Hoax 'Active Shooter' Threat
A 14-year-old William Allen High School student made the phony 911 call about an active shooter that brought authorities to campus last week, according to Allentown police. The unnamed teen is charged with terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and communication with 911 systems for a non-emergency, the department said in a release. His case will be adjudicated in Lehigh County Juvenile Court, they added. Phony 'Active Shooter' Report Brings Presence Police To Allentown School
Allentown police were dispatched to William Allen High School Thursday morning for an active shooter report that turned out to be a hoax, according to the department. Authorities said they received the phony call around 10:20 a.m., Oct. 26. Officers and Lehigh County sheriff's deputies "conducted a systematic clearing" of the building and found "no threat to the public," APD said. The William Allen High School football team is mourning the loss of one of its own. Treshawn J. Tracy, 15, died on Sunday, Sept. 25 after being shot in the area of 6th Street and Tilghman Street in Allentown, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.
