Major Mall-Based Chain With 21 PA Stores Closing 543 Locations After Filing For Bankruptcy
A major retailer primarily located in malls and headquartered in Pennsylvania is set to close all 543 of its stores following its third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Closures for all rue21 locations are expected to be completed within the next two months with going-out-of-business sales coming soon. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania outside Pittsburgh, had first filed for bankruptcy in 2003, and then for a second time in 2017, when it closed around 400 stores. UPDATE: A 37-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged with killing two people — one a pedestrian the other a passenger in another car — at H2oi in Wildwood. Hundreds of cars gathered Friday, Sept. 23 in Wildwood for an annual "unsanctioned" show that attendees say will be laid back this year despite a history of chaos in other cities. 21-Year-Old Pennsylvania Woman 'Too Beautiful For This World' Killed In Maryland
A "bright light" in her community, Sophia Battisti, of Reinhold’s, was killed in a crash in Maryland on Friday, August 26, police say. Battisti was crossing the street "against the pedestrian signal" at Coastal Highway in the area of 59th Street just before midnight when she was struck by a car traveling north, Ocean City police say. "Lifesaving efforts were initiated by good Samaritans at the scene and Ocean City EMS," police say. But ultimately, "Battisti was pronounced deceased on the scene." A former Navy SEAL who had help from his wife killing a Virginia couple while on vacation in Ocean City, Maryland won't be getting parole, WTOP reports. Benjamin Sifrit, 44, was denied parole in his first public hearing since being sentenced to 38 years for the 2002 slayings of Martha Crutchley, 51, and Joshua Ford, 32, the outlet said. Pennsylvania Girl Attacked By Shark
A 12-year-old girl was bitten by a shark earlier this week. Jordan Prushinski, of Luzerne County, left her landlocked state and headed to Maryland earlier in the week for a family vacation at the coast. "I was on the beach and I was bleeding everywhere,” she told WBRE News. It all started when she was swimming at the 19th Street Beach in Ocean City on Monday. A wave came in and she felt something on her leg. She ran out of the water-- bleeding from her left leg-- and was treated by lifeguards.
