A literal ax murderer who hacked a man to death has been on the loose in Pennsylvania for more than 40 years. Edward James Joubert spent the last day of his life — Nov. 28, 1981 — working at the Bottom of the Fox Tavern, on the corner of Main and Oak streets in Delaware Water Gap, troopers said. Two people have died following a motorcycle accident in the Poconos on Sunday afternoon, state police have announced. It happened around 2:40 p.m. on May 21, said state troopers in Carbon County. A motorcyclist and a passenger were heading north on Forest Inn Road near Hill Road in Towamensing Township when an oncoming vehicle veered from its lane and struck their bike, according to the police report. Both drivers were ejected and killed after their vehicles overturned several times on Route 80 in the Poconos Monday afternoon, state police confirmed. A woman died after falling off a jet ski in the Poconos Thursday, July 7, authorities said. Lorena Lauer, 19, of Stroudsburg (Jackson Township) was on a jet ski at Camp Pocono Trails in Reeders around 5:45 p.m. when she fell and went underwater, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.
