Philadelphia Fire Sends Five To Hospital, Officials Say More than 75 Philadelphia firefighters responded to an early morning blaze in Strawberry Mansion on Tuesday, March 12, according to authorities.  First responders were called to the 2800 block of Lehigh Avenue just after 3 a.m., a PFD spokesperson told Daily Voice.  Five people were treated at the scene by EMS and then taken to area hospitals, the department said.  Firefighters were on the scene for over an hour, they added.  PFD is reminding residents that free smoke alarms are available by calling 311 or 215-686-8686.

Tanker Truck Catches Fire In Philadelphia Dozens of Philadelphia firefighters were called to the scene of a tanker truck fire in Northern Liberties on Monday afternoon, Nov. 6, officials told Daily Voice.  It happened near the corner of 2nd and Callowhill streets around 1:30 p.m., a Fire Department spokesperson said.  The blaze was contained to the cab of the truck and did not reach the tanker before roughly 60 PFD members put the fire down, officials said. The scene was cleared by 1:45 p.m.  The truck driver was not injured, the department added.
