A city police officer fired their service weapon at a suspect in North Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, according to Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore. Authorities in Marple Township arrested an armed man at the 400 S. State Road Walmart this week, police said in a release. Officers were called about a person with a gun around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, police said. Minor Caught With Gun After Chase Through Reading, Authorities Say
A "juvenile" faces weapons charges after leading police on a chase through Reading on Wednesday, Feb. 27, according to authorities. RPD said they pursued a car that fled from a traffic stop on the 400 block of North 3rd Street. Eventually, the driver bailed and fled on foot, the department said. When officers chased him down, he had a firearm with a Glock auto sear (or "switch") and an extended magazine in his possession, police said. Homicide Investigation: Delco Woman, 34, Found Dead In Apartment
Chester police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old woman as a homicide. Shante Whitaker was found unconscious and bleeding from her head at her 1239 Curran Street apartment Monday night, Oct. 9, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A Philadelphia woman and her son were found dead Tuesday night in what police are investigating as a possible murder-suicide, the department told Daily Voice. Monroe County Bank Robber Learns His Fate
A New York man convicted of robbing a Monroe County bank last September will spend five years in prison, authorities have announced. Federal officials say Michael Muse, 44, of Brooklyn, walked into the ESSA Bank on Milford Road in Middle Smithfield Township on Sept. 16, 2021 and stole about $9,000 at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. The firearm was later determined to be an air pistol, authorities said. On Thursday, Oct. 27, federal Judge Malachy E. A Berks County man accused of fatally shooting a 25-year-old man in Reading earlier this year has been apprehended, authorities said. Valintine Meredith was arrested Friday on firearm and drug-related charges, as well as criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and robbery, according to the Reading Police Department.
