After a hang-up call to 911 state troopers went to Carl Virgil Miller's home along Main Street in Portage Borough on Feb. 25, 2023, at 3:05 a.m., according to a release by state police on Feb. 27.  As police arrived, 911 dispatchers received a second call from Miller saying, "I called 10 minutes ago; I damn near shot my wife," as stated in court documents.
