Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Englewood Shooting: Man Struck In Arm, Bullet Flies Through Resident's Window A 47-year-old man was struck in the arm by one bullet while another smashed through the window of an innocent resident’s home Tuesday night in Englewood. Multiple shots were fired around 11 p.m. in the 200 block of West Palisade Avenue, Police Capt. Timothy Torell said Wednesday morning. The victim was taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that Torell said weren’t life-threatening. No arrests had been reported as of late Thursday morning.

Manhattan IT Company Owner From Leonia Charged With Raping Palisades Park Woman The Leonia owner of a midtown Manhattan IT company was charged with raping an incapacitated woman from Palisades Park. Euiseok Lee, 51, sexually assaulted the woman, who physically unable to prevent the attack, in the early morning hours Monday, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said. Prosecutor: Couple Caught With Heroin For Sale, Guns Used Fake IDs To Rent Edgewater Apartment A couple who used bogus IDs to rent an Edgewater high-rise apartment were dealing heroin while armed with two handguns, authorities said. Moonachie Teen Sexually Assaulted By Paterson Man, 22, Authorities Charge An underage Moonachie teen was sexually assaulted by a Paterson man, said authorities who arrested him. Nathan Santana, 22, remained held Thursday in the Bergen County Jail after a judge refused to release him during a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Monday following his arrest six days earlier. Rochelle Park Pedestrian Pinned Under SUV While Walking Dog A 57-year-old Rochelle Park resident was expected to survive after being struck and pinned by an SUV while crossing a local street with her dog early Thursday, authorities said. The woman was walking south along Rochelle Avenue when she crossed Chesnut Street and was struck by a Chevy Equinox whose driver was making a left from northbound Rochelle Avenue around 7:45 a.m., Police Chief Robert Flannelly said. SWAT Team Seizes Accused New Milford Sex Offender Holed Up In Car At Englewood Boat Basin A New Milford man accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl had to be removed from his car by a SWAT team after he drove it into a restricted area of Palisades Interstate Park and then refused to get out, authorities said. List Of Paterson Diocese Sex-Abuse Priests Released, Names Of Parishes Withheld The Paterson Diocese on Wednesday released its list of priests accused of sexual abuse but didn't identify their parishes. "You don't need to know that information," a Paterson Diocese receptionist told Daily Voice. "All that you see is what has been approved by the bishop." Most were removed from the ministry. Wayne PD: 10 Unlocked Vehicles Burglarized, Three Stolen, One Crashed Wayne police nabbed two members of a crew of Newark car thieves who they said stole three unlocked vehicles – crashing one of them – and rummaged through nearly a dozen others before dawn Tuesday.
