Newville 17-Year-Old ID'd After Motorcycle Crash On Ritner Highway A Newville 17-year-old has been identified by his family following a deadly motorcycle crash involving a tractor-trailer at Ritner Highway and Route 11.  Drew Benfield was days away from graduating when his 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle "impacted with the trailer" of a 2017 Kenworth truck in the 3400 block of Ritner Highway onto Route 11 in West Pennsboro Township on Monday, May 8, 2023, around 12 p.m., according to a release by Pennsylvania State Police.  Patrick Dowler of Hagerstown, MD was driving the truck. Sexual Images Found On Big Spring HS Student's Laptop, State Police Say Big Spring High School officials called police to investigate sexual images found on a laptop, according to Pennsylvania State Police. PSP were called to the Newville area school for a report of “sexually explicit images found on a school laptop used by a student,” at 2 p.m on April 22 as stated in a release by police. The school was at the center of another sexual images investigation in 2015 for a student sexting ring, leading to 20 to 25 mobile devices being seized from students, according to police. Karen Etter Of Carlisle Dies After Valiant 5-Year Cancer Battle Karen Rebekah (Griffie) Etter of Carlisle died on Sunday, April 11, after a valiant five-year battle with cancer. More than $28,900 had been raised on a GoFundMe for her family as of Saturday morning.  Karen graduated from Big Spring High School in 2000 and earned her BS from Indiana University of PA in 2004, MS in speech-language pathology in 2006, her obituary says.  She worked in healthcare and public schools, most recently Capital Area Intermediate Unit.  Karen and her husband, Michael Etter, served as Deacons at Tree of Life Church.
