Delta flight 534 took off from New York's LaGuardia Airport at 8:15 a.m. and was expected to land in Dallas around noon, but it was diverted to PIT at approximately 10 a.m. on March 6, according to flight logs.

The companies official statement on the incident reads:

"Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels"

The flight crew followed procedures to divert to Pittsburgh International Airport, and an emergency was declared with air traffic control priority landing, the Delta spokesperson explained. The flight landed without issues.

The plane, BSC1, was an A220-100, which is the smallest model of Airbus available. It can seat a maximum of 135 passengers. This flight had two pilots, three flight attendants, and 64 passengers.

This plane was manufactured and put into service in 2019, as shown in FAA records.

The flight crew and passengers were transferred to B738, a Boeing 737-800 (also a two-jet engine) which departed PIA at 2:49 p.m. and is expected to land in Dallas at 4:49 p.m., updated logs show.

"Delta teams are working to get customers to their final destinations as quickly as possible," the statement from Delta to Daily Voice concluded.
