Man Who Posed As Teen, Exploiting Children Sentenced: Lancaster County DA
A Lancaster County man has been sentenced to 2.5 to 10 years in state prison after admitting to sexually exploiting juveniles online and stockpiling an enormous collection of child pornography, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office announced Friday, Dec. 20.
Kenneth Lee Schmidt, 46, of East Earl Township, pleaded guilty to 49 felony charges, including possession and dissemination of child pornography, solicitation of minors, and corruption of minors, prosecutors said.

Meta Outages: Thousands Experiencing Issues With Facebook, Instagram, Other Platforms
Tens of thousands of Meta users are experiencing outages across its platforms.
Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, there were numerous reports of outages on Downdetector.com, including 69,000 on Instagram, over 1,000 on Facebook, and 10,000 on WhatsApp.
Meta issued a statement on the outages on X at around 1:45 p.m.
"We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps," the statement said. "We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience."

Meta is admitting that harmless content gets taken down amid criticism for its handling of moderation.
“Too often, harmless content gets taken down, or restricted, and too many people get penalized unfairly,” the company's president of global affairs, Nick Glegg, told reporters on Monday, Dec. 2, according to a report in The Verge.

A cowboy has been killed in a shooting marking the tragic end of a feud with another man in a neighboring county, according to court documents obtained by Daily Voice.
Aiden Kimmet, 25 of New Providence, died at Lancaster General Hospital after being shot with a pistol "multiple times," by 24-year-old Bryan Charles Hollister, 24 of Windsor, as stated in the PSP release.

A missing Pennsylvania girl was found on Tuesday, May 23 in Virginia with an Ohio sex offender, authorities said.
Emily High, who disappeared out of Chambersburg, PA on May 15, was unharmed, while Jaret Wright was taken into custody, upon being located in Purceville, VA, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Authorities have arrested the man they say was caught on video fatally shooting another in Norristown.
Eugene Ware, 41, of Philadelphia, is charged with the murder of 35-year-old Tyrone Guy on West Main Street late on Monday, Nov. 21.
He was taken into custody in Bucks County early on Wednesday, Nov. 30, after a "brief standoff" at a home in Sellersville, officials said.
