UPenn Scientists Develop 'Promising' New Flu Vaccine
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania are seeing "promising results" in the early testing phases of an experimental mRNA-based influenza vaccine. In a statement on Friday, Nov. 25, Penn Medicine scientists said initial models suggest the new vaccine "provided broad protection" against "otherwise lethal" strains of the flu. The experimental jab is powered by the same mRNA technology used in the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines, researchers added. “The idea here is to have a vaccine that will give people a baseline level of immune memory to diverse flu st…

So you had COVID-19. Then you got vaccinated. But now you're feeling sick and you're wondering if it's the Omicron variant. It very well could be -- if you don't have your booster shot, new research finds. The new, highly-contagious variant is expected to "rip right through the population" and will be worse for those who are vaccinated and not boosted, world-renowned virologist and Columbia University professor Dr. David Ho said in an interview with CNBC. Ho said that those who have booster shots are far less likely to experience COVID-19 symptoms. Moderna said Monday citing lab find…

19: Unvaccinated Are More Than Twice As Likely To Get Virus A Second Time, CDC Says
A new study by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that COVID-19 vaccines offer better and more protection against reinfection of the virus than just natural immunity among those who already have been infected. On Friday, Aug. 6, the CDC released the findings of a new study of nearly 1,000 Americans who previously tested positive for COVID-19 but remained unvaccinated. According to the study, those who were unvaccinated proved to be more than twice as likely to become infected for a second time than those who were fully vaccinated against the virus. Researchers …

: Restrictions Loosened For Fully-Vaccinated Travelers
Federal health officials on Friday loosened the restrictions – and increased the incentives -- for fully-vaccinated Americans to “return to the things we love about life,” including leaving on a jet plane. Although the government hasn’t required the coronavirus vaccine for travel, officials said anyone who is two weeks past his or her final shot doesn’t need a COVID test before going on domestic trips. You also don’t need to self-quarantine after travel, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. You should, however, follow other public health recommendations, including wearing …
