The woman injured after a propane explosion destroyed a recreational vehicle and damaged property at the Blue Mountain Service Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike has died and been, authorities announced on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Melinda VanNewkirk, 68, of Milton, Delaware, was pronounced dead at 1:36 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to the Cumberland County Coroner's Office. Her cause of death was listed as complications from burns covering 35% to 37% of her body. The manner of death was ruled accidental.

A high-speed chase ended in a multi-vehicle crash that left one driver seriously injured in Lebanon early Wednesday, Dec. 11, police said.
Darius Stuckey, 28, of East Petersburg, was driving a vehicle with an equipment violation when a Lebanon City police officer attempted to pull him over around 1:47 a.m., according to a release from the department.

A 58-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Upper Milford Township over the weekend, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office announced on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024.
Jane E. Zamichieli, of Upper Saucon Township, died at 10:39 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, according to the release.
Zamichieli suffered multiple blunt force injuries when her vehicle left the roadway, went down an embankment, and ejected her, the coroner said. The crash occurred around 8:23 p.m. in Upper Milford Township, authorities reported.

Two people were killed when their car struck a building, caught fire, and damaged another vehicle in Bedminster Township, Bucks County, police announced on Friday, Nov. 15.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:29 a.m. on the 6600 block of Easton Road (Route 611), according to a press release issued by Interim Chief Nick Virnelson. A Berks County boy was tragically injured after he was run over by a float at a local Halloween parade, according to a community member trying to raise money for the family.
Nico Rizzo, 8, of Boyertown, was on a float with his football team in the Boyertown Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 19, a GoFundMe campaign started by Abby Mackey, his friend's mother, states.

A motorcyclist fatally struck a deer on Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, the Pennsylvania State Police said.
Donald E. Guldin, 57, of Lower Macungie Township, was driving a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the area of State Route 100 near Windy Road in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County when he struck a deer at 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, according to the Pennsylvania State Police and the Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio.

Fatal ATV Crash Victim ID'd As Joshua Beck,19: Coroner
A 19-year-old man was killed in an ATV crash in Carbon County, authorities said.
Joshua Beck of Penn Forest Township died as a result of the crash on Saturday, Aug. 24, according to Carbon County Coroner Mark K. Smith. Beck lost control of the ATV, left the roadway and struck a tree, the coroner said.
