Work Nears Completion On 27-Story Apartment Tower In New Rochelle The superstructure of a 27-story luxury apartment tower located in the downtown area of a Westchester County city has been completed.  The topping off of 33 Westchester Place in downtown New Rochelle, a tower that will contain 315 luxury apartments, was held on Monday, Aug. 19, according to developer Allstate Ventures.  Work on the 27-story tower originally began in May 2023. $32M Resurfacing Project Begins On I-287 In Rye, Harrison Work has commenced on a multi-million dollar project that will restore a well-used stretch of highway in Westchester, officials announced.  In an announcement this week, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said a $32.4 million resurfacing project has started on a 5.5-mile stretch of Interstate 287 (Cross Westchester Expressway) between Westchester Avenue in Harrison and Route 1 in Rye.  According to Hochul, the project will repair road joints, add new pavement, and upgrade road striping on the stretch of highway, which is part of one of the busiest roadways in the Hudson Valley. …

Vehicle Rolls Over In Crash On Route 9 In Irvington Crews had to clean debris from a busy Westchester roadway following a two-vehicle crash that left one car flipped on its side.  The crash happened on Tuesday, Aug. 20 just before 7 p.m., when two cars collided at the intersection of Main Street and South Broadway (Route 9) in Irvington, the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department said on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The drivers were able to get themselves out of the vehicles and were later evaluated by EMS crews.  After around 45 minutes, all of the debris from the crash was cleaned from the roadway, the department said.

SUV Goes Up In Flames On Road In Croton-On-Hudson A vehicle blaze that went up on a residential street in Northern Westchester was stopped from damaging nearby homes thanks to quick efforts from firefighters.  The incident happened on Monday, Aug. 19 just before 9:30 a.m., when an SUV went up in flames on lower Brook Street in Croton-on-Hudson, according to the village's fire department.  Arriving crews stretched a hose line to both extinguish the vehicle fire and cool down the neighboring house.
