A Wendy's franchisee in the Philadelphia suburbs is on the hook for a $300,000 fine after the state Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) says they violated the rights of dozens of child employees. GCWen Management, which operates 21 Wendy's locations across Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery counties, was cited for 766 violations of the Pennsylvania Child Labor Act in 2023, officials said. Dunkin' Franchise Owner Violated Child Labor Laws At Multiple Central Pennsylvania Locations
39 children between 14 and 15 years old worked excess hours at three central Pennsylvania Dunkin' locations owned by one franchiser, according to a release by the US Department of Labor. The franchiser Akshar Ashish LLC admitted to the error and has entered into an agreement with the USDOL. A woman and her now deceased ex-boyfriend forced minors— including their foster children— into "forced labor" at their car detailing business, Attorney General Josh Shapiro alleges.
