A 90-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning, Dec. 19, in Plymouth Meeting, according to police. The incident occurred around 5:51 a.m. on Germantown Pike, west of Walton Road, Plymouth Township Police said. Officers and EMS arrived to find the man in the eastbound lanes. An inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale was found dead in his cell, officials announced on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2024. Lance Heverly, 39, was discovered unresponsive in his cell. Prison staff immediately began life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived, but Heverly was pronounced deceased at 1:35 p.m., according to SCI Houtzdale Superintendent David Close. An explosion rocked the Blue Mountain Service Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike early Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to Pennsylvania State Police. More than 75 Philadelphia firefighters responded to an early morning blaze in Strawberry Mansion on Tuesday, March 12, according to authorities. First responders were called to the 2800 block of Lehigh Avenue just after 3 a.m., a PFD spokesperson told Daily Voice. Five people were treated at the scene by EMS and then taken to area hospitals, the department said. Firefighters were on the scene for over an hour, they added.
