Police ID Driver Killed When Van Careened Off Route 80, Slammed Tree In Wayne
A 41-year-old man was killed in a crash on Route 80 Monday morning, Nov. 25, according to New Jersey State Police
Troopers responded to the crash in the westbound lanes at approximately 10:51 a.m. where a Ford Econoline van, driven by Namon Melvin, 41, of Orange, had rear-ended a Honda passenger car near milepost 53.7, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said.
The van then veered off the road, went down an embankment, and struck a tree. Melvin died in the crash while the driver of the Honda was not reported injured, Marchan said.

A Bergen County SWAT team was called to an Oakland home Sunday morning, Nov. 24, after a restraining order violation escalated into a barricade situation, local police said.
Officers responded to a residence on River Road at 8:37 a.m. for a report of a restraining order violation involving Carlos Rocha, 43, formerly of Oakland, who had been barred from the home, Oakland Police Capt. Timothy Keenan said.
