A 21-year-old college student miraculously survived an eight-story fall out of her apartment window, which happened while dancing on a couch near the window, NBC News reports.

Kimberly Shortell, 41, of Ronkonkoma, took her daughter to Ronkonkoma Beach at 299 Rosevale Avenue around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

More than 6,000 customers remained without power on Long Island on Monday morning, Sept. 28 following the weekend’s nor’easter.
Most of the outages are in Suffolk County, according to Long Island utility provider PSEG.
