A man has been charged months after crashing his pickup truck into a Hudson Valley Dunkin’ location, causing extensive damage that led to the building’s demolition, police announced.
The crash happened in Orange County on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, when 44-year-old Eric Schrader, of Pine Bush, drove a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Route 52 before crossing the westbound lane, leaving the roadway, and slamming into the Dunkin’ building in Crawford, the Crawford Police Department announced on Monday, Feb. 3.

Guilty: Hudson Valley Man To Spend Years Behind Bars For Forcible Rape
A Hudson Valley man will spend years behind bars after being found guilty by a jury of forcible rape.
Orange County resident Jesse Boniface, age 52, of Middletown, was convicted on Tuesday, Oct. 1, of the rape which occurred in the town of Crawford, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
As alleged at trial, on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, Boniface engaged in sexual intercourse and oral sex by force with another person.
The attack was reported to the Crawford Police, who, after conducting an investigation, arrested Boniface.

These Hudson Valley Towns Rank Among Highest In State For Most Black Bears Taken In 2018
Hunters in the Hudson Valley were among the most proficient in taking bears, according to the DEC’s Black Bear Harvest summary.
During the 2018-2019 hunting season, New Yorkers hunted down 1,295 black bears statewide, a decrease of 125 from the previous year.
Of the bears that were hunted, 349 were killed by bow, 66 were killed by a muzzleloader and 11 were taken by youth hunters. In the Southern Zone, 804 bears were killed, 60 percent of which were male, and 491 bears were killed in the Northern Zone.

Town Clerk Accused Of Embezzling $20,000
A town clerk in Crawford has been arrested for allegedly embezzling $20,000 from the town over the past several years.
Jolene Roy, 44, of Pine Bush, was arrested Monday, March 11, following an investigation by the state police in Middletown into irregularities with the books and accounts within the Town Clerk's office, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
After an extensive investigation, it was determined that approximately $20,000 had allegedly been stolen by Roy, who has held the elected position since 2014, he said.

Aide To Sen. Larkin Quits Over Domestic Violence Charge
An aide to state Sen. Bill Larkin, R-C-Cornwall-on Hudson, resigned Tuesday from his job in the wake of a felony domestic violence indictment.
"Today Senator Larkin accepted Robert Nickol's resignation effective immediately," Larkin’s spokesman, Brian Maher, said on Tuesday.
Nickol, 32, of Albany, was indicted last week on felony counts of second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault and a misdemeanor assault count. He was released without bail.
