A major drug trafficking network responsible for distributing cocaine and counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl throughout the Hudson Valley has been dismantled, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced.
Seven individuals, including network leaders, were busted Friday, Jan. 10, following a yearlong investigation led by the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force and the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit.

Hudson Valley Drug Dealer Nabbed With Drugs, Gun For Second Time In 3 Weeks, Cops Say
An alleged drug dealer has been nabbed for the second time in three weeks by a drug task force in the region, police said.
Dutchess County resident Jaylen Shaw, age 22, of the town of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Friday, May 10, in Poughkeepsie by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task.
According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris of the task force, a continued investigation into Shaw's activities led to his arrest following a search of his home where "dangerous" drugs, a gun, and ammo were seized.

Temple Shooting: 28-Year-Old Federally Charged After Gunshots At NY Synagogue
The man accused of opening fire at a New York synagogue on the first day of Hanukkah has been federally charged.
Mufid Fawaz Alkhader, age 28, of Schenectady, appeared in Albany federal court on Friday, Dec. 8, where he was arraigned on one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
According to the criminal complaint, Alkhader approached Albany’s Temple Israel, located on New Scotland Avenue, at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 armed with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun.
He then fired the weapon twice into the air, prosecutors allege.

A couple faces a host of new charges after allegedly breaking into the Northern Westchester home of the male suspect's ex-girlfriend and assaulting her, officials said.
The two defendants, Bronx residents Darling Read, age 35, and Jovanda Paredes, age 29, were arraigned on Wednesday, July 5 in Westchester County Court in connection with an armed home invasion that happened on Friday, March 17, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.

A man who was shot and killed on a sidewalk in the area has been identified by police.
Dutchess County resident Cain Smalls, age 29, was found around 4 a.m. Sunday, April 17, in the city of Poughkeepsie.
Smalls, of the city of Poughkeepsie, was found after officers responded to the area of 135 Mill St., for a report of shots fired.

A Hudson Valley man who had a veritable arsenal in his car when he was stopped by police is facing charges following his arrest for impersonating a police officer in Florida, authorities announced.
Rockland County resident James J. Tedesco IV, age 43, of Nanuet, was busted with police uniforms, assault rifles, and other military equipment when he was stopped shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22 on Route 95 in Vero Beach, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said.
At the time he was stopped, Tedesco was in possession of:
