A 48-year-old New York man has been charged with murder six weeks after a woman was found stabbed to death inside her home, State Police said. Tucker J. Taylor, 48, of Ausable Forks, New York, was arrested Sunday, Sept. 13, in connection with the murder of Patricia “Pattie” Lawrence, 54, in the Essex County town of Jay, according to New York State Police. A woman lost approximately $60,000 after scammers sent her a text claiming fraudulent charges had been made through her Apple Pay account, police said. The 76-year-old Mineola woman received the message and was told she needed to call a phone number listed to resolve the supposed transactions, Nassau County Police said in a release issued Sunday, Sept. 13.
