The company that designs Tim Stockel's corn mazes had been trying to get Dolly Parton into cornfields for nearly three years.
The idea was simple: honor an American icon in the fall, when denim jackets, country music, and getting lost in a cornfield just seem to fit.
Finally, in February, Parton's team agreed to a one-year licensing arrangement allowing participating farms to use her image in corn mazes designed by The Maize Company.
"To me, she was everything," said Stockel, who runs the 130-acre Happy Day Farm in Manalapan alongside his wife, Olivia Stockel, a massive Dolly Parton fan.

Former Fox Affiliate TV Anchor Admits To Stabbing Mother To Death
A former local television news anchor whose career included several stations across the country has admitted to a crime that could keep her behind bars for decades.
Angelynn “Angie” Mock, 48, pleaded guilty Friday, Aug. 21, to first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. Mock faces a presumptive life sentence with eligibility for parole after 25 years.
Her sentencing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5.

3 Inmates Attacked Corrections Officers In Separate Incidents At Hudson Valley Facility: DA
Three inmates at a Dutchess County prison have been indicted in separate attacks that left correction officers injured, prosecutors said.
Ryan Laws, 48, Carine Reeves, 46, and Emmanuel Valentin-Perez, 23, are each charged with two counts of second-degree assault, both felonies, in connection with incidents at Green Haven Correctional Facility in the town of Beekman, the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office announced on Thursday, Aug. 27.
The three indictments involve separate alleged attacks dating from July 2024 through January 2025.

Nearly half a pound of crack cocaine and more than 40 grams of fentanyl were seized during a multi-agency drug raid in Dutchess County that led to two arrests, police said.
The bust happened at 97 North Bridge St. in the City of Poughkeepsie on Monday, Aug. 24, New York State Police announced on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
