Homeless Man Pretending To Be Masonry Worker Scammed Elderly Victims On Long Island: Cops
A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly scamming elderly homeowners across Nassau County by offering fraudulent masonry services, intentionally causing additional damage, and inflating repair costs, police said.
Patrick Wall, who is homeless, targeted elderly victims from September 2023 to January 2025, offering to perform construction repairs on their homes, according to Nassau County Police. Wall convinced the victims to hire him, but during the work, he intentionally caused more damage to their properties and increased the costs of the repairs, police said.

One Seriously Injured In Two-Vehicle Long Island Crash
A Long Island resident was seriously injured during a two-vehicle crash.
It took place around 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, when a man driving a 2008 Nissan SUV on 5th Avenue in Bay Shore in Suffolk County turned east, striking a 2019 Harley Davidson, ejecting the driver.
According to police, the motorcyclist, William Lefferts, age 61, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the SUV, Aristidas Andrade, age 43, also of Bay Shore, was not injured.
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Mercedes On Busy Long Island Roadway
A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle on Long Island.
The incident took place around 12:25 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, in Brentwood.
According to Suffolk County Police detectives, a man was walking in the roadway in front of 466 Suffolk. Ave. at 12:25 a.m. when he was struck by a westbound 2003 Mercedes, driven by Gloria Collins, 54, of Brentwood.
The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of critical injuries.
Collins, who was alone in her vehicle, was not injured.

Long Island Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car on Long Island.
It happened on Monday, Oct. 28 just after 9:15 p.m. in East Islip.
John Dempsey, 60, of West Islip, was crossing Carleton Avenue eastbound, just south of Jefferson Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2002 Toyota Corolla, according to Suffolk County Police.
Dempsey was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, Joseph Ladonna, 51, of East Islip, was not injured.
