: Quartet Flees Following Botched Maywood Jewelry Store Robbery
Authorities are investigating the failed robbery of a Maywood jewelry store. The female owner and a male customer were in Diamond Fantasy on West Pleasant Avenue when two gunmen entered around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, authorities said. Two others outside apparently acted as lookouts, they said. All left empty-handed, although at the moment it's unclear why. No one was injured and no arrests had been made as of early Wednesday. SUV Crashes Into Maywood Beauty Salon
A Maywood beauty salon had already closed when an SUV crashed through the storefront on Tuesday. The 30-something driver wasn't injured, responders said. Borough police and firefighters responded to the Reliz De Manila Salon on 150 West Pleasant Avenue. Authorities reported no structural damage to the building.

MAYWOOD, N.J. – Authorities were trying to determine whether two Paterson teens caught “fishing” mail from postal boxes in Maywood are connected to dozens of similar incidents in Bergen County. Officer Greg Mulawka spotted the pair on bicycles near the Maywood Post Office on West Pleasant Avenue, Police Chief David Pegg said. MAYWOOD, N.J. -- A Maywood police officer snagged three accused mailbox fishers who authorities said were carrying stolen checks and unopened mail before dawn outside the local post office. A getaway car was parked a block away, with more stolen mail inside -- as well as ill-gotten cash and drug paraphernalia, Police Chief David Pegg said.
