Barnes & Noble in Roxbury has closed its doors after nearly three decades -- and will not reopen at The Shops at Ledgewood Commons after all. “We have truly enjoyed serving our Ledgewood customers from this location for the past 26 years and appreciate your loyalty and support,” read a sign posted on the store’s door Tuesday. Roxbury Man, 82, Drowns After Falling From Lake Hopatcong Dock
A Morris County man drowned when he fell off a dock and into Lake Hopatcong Thursday evening, authorities said. The Roxbury man fell into the water shortly before 6 p.m. near King Road, township police said. King Road is located along the King Cove section of Lake Hopatcong. Mt. Arlington and State Police responded but were unable to revive the man, authorities said. The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin. This is a developing story. Friends Seek Justice For Morris County Man, 20, Found Hanged In Park
Friends of a Morris County man whose body was found hanged in a park last weekend are seeking justice. Morris County authorities said Friday they'd found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing to this point in the hanging park death of a 20-year-old Amani Kildea, of Long Valley. : Body Of Capsized Boat Operator Recovered, ID'd As Morris County Man
The body of a 68-year-old Morris county man was recovered from Crescent Cove in Hopatcong, hours after the boat he was operating capsized Wednesday, authorities said. Divers from the New Jersey State Police Dive Team recovered Curtis Mulch's body from the water sometime after 3 p.m., Trooper Alejandro Goez said. Mulch, of the Landing section of Roxbury, was pronounced dead just before 3:30 p.m., Goez said. A local school board in Morris County reportedly is paying $980,000 to settle a civil suit brought by the family of a former middle school student whose teacher admitted groping and making out with her. Prosecutor: Essex County Corrections Officers Lied About Making Jail Rounds, Charged
A pair of Essex County Correctional Facility officers were charged with falsifying and tampering with records while working at the Newark jail, authorities said. Raymond Distasi, of Roxbury, and Quasi Cary, of Newark, both made false entries in the jail logbook indicating that they made made rounds in the jail that surveillance footage indicated that they did not make, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. The community is rallying for a Roxbury township employee mourning his daughter, who died recently at 28 years old. Kaitlynn LaBell of Mount Arlington passed away at St. Clare's Hospital Dover Campus on Dec. 19, surrounded by her family. Kaitlynn's father Paul LaBell is Roxbury's roads supervisor. A 28-year-old man died six days after his 69-year-old father of injuries sustained in a Roxbury car accident, authorities said. Stanhope Man Dead, 2 Injured In Roxbury Crash, Police Say
A 69-year-old Stanhope man died after a Roxbury crash, police said. Roxbury police responded to the two-car crash Howard Boulevard at Ledgewood Plaza around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, Roxbury Police spokesperson Jennifer Dillard said. It appeared that the crash occurred when one vehicle pulled out of the plaza and onto Howard Boulevard. Lenape Valley High School in Stanhope will be closed Wednesday due to damage possibly sustained in a tornado Tuesday.
