Man Airlifted In Fall While Pulling Luggage Outside His Bergen County Apartment: Police
A 74-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after suffering a head injury in a fall outside a Bergen County apartment complex Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, police said. The incident occurred at approximately 4:25 p.m. when the man, who lives on Sutton Place in Norwood, was walking backward on the sidewalk while pulling a piece of luggage, Norwood Police Chief Christian Federici said. The man lost his balance and fell, striking his head on the concrete. A Rockland County man is being held in the Bergen County jail after police said he held his former employer and coworkers hostage, demanding money and threatening them with his dog. Police were called to a business suite on Broad Street in Norwood around 1:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, where Wayne Gordon, of New City, NY had come in with his pit bull, removed the dog's muzzle, and threatened to have the dog attack them if they didn't pay him $7,000 that he claimed he was owed, Norwood Police Chief Christopher Federici said. Chemical Extinguisher Helps At Northvale Machine Shop Fire
Firefighters used a high-volume dry chemical extinguisher to help with a machine shop blaze in Northvale. The Livingston Street fire ignited shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The Paramus Fire Department’s Foam Unit provided a significant assist extinguishing flames on aluminum shavings that were placed in metal barrels and brought outside. Firefighters doused a smoky blaze at a Bergen County nursing home Friday afternoon. A Closter driver died in a predawn crash despite furious efforts to save him, authorities said. The victim, 21, failed to negotiate a turn when his 2018 Mercedes GLE hit a tree and telephone pole before coming to rest on its side on Piermont Road near Alpine Drive at 4:46 a.m. Wednesday, Closter Police Chief John McTigue said. A 27-year-old Bergen County resident is facing charges for killing his ex-girlfriend's pets over the course of a year, authorities announced. Matthew Savinovich, of Norwood, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 6 by officers from the Putnam County SPCA for allegedly killing three chihuahuas and a ferret that belonged to his ex in Lake Peekskill.
