3-Year-Old Critical After Accidental Shooting: Newark PD A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in Newark on the late afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 15, authorities said. At 5:47 p.m., police responded to a residence on Wainwright Street near Bragaw Avenue and found a 3-year-old boy who had been shot and two other children unharmed,  Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The 3-year-old was transported to University Hospital for treatment, Fragé said. A firearm was recovered at the scene, Fragé said. Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors A 52-year-old Newark resident was fatally shot on Thursday, July 27, authorities said. At 6:11 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 300 block of Wainwright Street and found Eddie Boykins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Boykins was pronounced dead at the scene, Stephens and Fragé said. Person Of Interest Sought In Newark Homicide The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is asking the public's help identifying a man seen leaving the scene of a fatal shooting in Newark last month.  Faheem R. Muhammed, 27, was found shot multiple times around 7:45 p.m. in the area of 409 Lyons Ave. Oct. 7. Muhammed was pronounced dead at University Hospital shortly afterwards.  Authorities have identified a person of interest, who was last seen in surveillance video running north on Wainwright Street.
