Man Found Dead Inside Vehicle: Newark PD A man was found dead inside a vehicle in Newark on the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 21, authorities said. At 4:01 p.m., police responded to Jones Street near Springfield Avenue on a report of an unresponsive male inside a vehicle, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The man was pronounced dead at 4:23 p.m., Fragé said. The man has not been publicly identified and foul play is not suspected, Fragé said. The incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.

Update: Suspect In Fatal Stabbing Of Irvington Teen Arrested UPDATE, July 26: A man identified as a suspect in the killing has been arrested, authorities announced Friday. Click here for more.  An 18-year-old from Irvington was stabbed to death during a dispute early Thursday in Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.  Asahiah Lawton and a 22-year-old were in the 200 block of Court Street shortly after midnight when Lawton was stabbed.
