Man Gets 10 Years For Fatal Jersey City Crash: Prosecutors Jose Colon, a 33-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for driving drunk in a crash that killed one person, authorities said. On Feb. 28, 2001, Colon was driving a 1996 Honda Civic at a high rate of speed on Christopher Columbus Drive near Merseles Street in Jersey City when he struck a guard rail, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. His passenger, 30-year-old Jesus Gonzalez, was pronounced dead at the scene, Suarez said. Colon had pleaded guilty to first-degree death by auto for driving while intoxicated in April, Suarez said.

Garima Kothari, 35, was found dead in her Christopher Columbus Drive apartment around 7:15 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Around half-hour later, police found her 37-year-old husband dead in the Hudson River near Montgomery Street and Exchange Place, Suarez said.
