Fallen Tree, Broken Utility Poles Close Northern Westchester Road A combination of a fallen tree and two broken utility poles caused a late-night closure on a main road in Northern Westchester.  Because of the fallen tree and broken utility poles, Grand Street (Route 129) in Croton-on-Hudson at Niles Road was closed around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, according to the village's fire department.  The broken utility lines also left many in the area without electricity, village officials said. 23-Year-Old Nabbed After Fleeing From Officers In Yorktown, Police Say A 23-year-old took officers on a high-speed chase in Northern Westchester as he attempted to avoid a traffic stop, police said. Shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15 in Yorktown, an officer on patrol spotted a driver speeding on Underhill Avenue and failing to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Route 129, turning without signaling. Two Injured In Route 129 Crash This story has been updated. A stretch of Route 129 in Yorktown was closed following a serious two-vehicle crash with injuries that occurred during the Monday morning commute.
