Taconic Trouble: Stolen Speeding Car Caught On Parkway In Yorktown, Police Say

A 40-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly speeding in a stolen vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester, police said.

The incident occurred late on Tuesday, Feb. 4, when a Yorktown Police officer noticed a vehicle traveling at high speeds on the southbound Taconic State Parkway, Yorktown Police announced on Monday, Feb. 10.

Upon pulling the vehicle over, the officer discovered that the vehicle's license plate had been reported stolen out of Pennsylvania, the department said.

The driver, identified as Tamar Williams, was taken into custody and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. Williams was then charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and other traffic infractions. 

Following her processing, Williams was released on her own recognizance and issued appearance tickets for the listed offenses. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at 6 p.m.
