Smouldering Van Impacts Traffic On I-84 In Kent A van blaze slowed traffic on Interstate 84 at the border of Putnam and Dutchess counties, firefighters said. The fire happened on Friday, Jan. 24 just before 12:45 p.m., when a van caught on fire on Interstate 84 in Kent, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Crews were able to put out the blaze after around 30 minutes.  The incident caused traffic delays on the interstate during the response.

Blaze Destroys Vehicle In I-84 In Kent A fire completely consumed a vehicle on Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at around 2:15 p.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on I-84 in Kent, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Fire crews rushed to the scene and were able to put the flames out.  No injuries were reported and the incident was safely brought under control, firefighters said.  "Remember to keep an eye on your vehicle’s condition to help prevent incidents like this," the department said in a social media post on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Driver Dies In Fiery Crash On I-84 In Kent A person was killed in a fiery crash on a busy Hudson Valley highway, police announced.  The incident happened in Putnam County on Monday, May 6, around 7:15 p.m., when a vehicle traveling on I-84 in Kent left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. After hitting the tree, the vehicle went up in flames, Hicks said. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash has not been released.
