Crash Shuts Down Roadway Near High School In Westchester: Developing A busy road near a Westchester County high school is closed following a multi-car crash, authorities announced.  King Street in Rye Brook is currently closed in both directions between Hillandale Road and Glenville Street, the Rye Brook Police Department announced on Wednesday, Oct. 23 around 11 a.m.  The crash happened near Blind Brook High School and will likely cause the road to be closed for "an extended period of time," according to the Port Chester Fire Department. Education Officials Express Outrage After Multiple Bomb Threats Called Into Westchester Schools Some top officials in one of Westchester’s largest school districts have expressed outrage after being among the county’s school districts targeted by schemers making threats. In the span of three days this week, four schools in Westchester - Yonkers Middle/ High School, Mount Vernon High School, Blind Brook High School, and the Yonkers Montessori Academy - were forced to evacuate students and staff due to unfounded threats that were reported.  Each of the threats proved to be unfounded, and responding police investigators found no credible threat at any of the buildings.

On Thursday, Sept. 30, the Yonkers Fire Department evacuated the Yonkers Montessori Academy due to a threat made at the school. 27 From Westchester Named Regeneron Science Scholars A total of 31 of the Hudson Valley's best and brightest high school seniors were among 300 chosen to compete with some of the nation’s top students in the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition. The 300 scholars were chosen out of 1,760 applications that were received from 611 high schools across 49 states. The 300 hail from 193 American and international high schools, Puerto Rico, and two other countries. Of the scholars, 27 came out of Westchester, with three in Putnam, and one in Dutchess. Sage Troy Asencio, College Student In Westchester, Dies At Age 18 Sage Troy Asencio of Bronxville died on Sunday, Dec. 27 due to complications from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. He was 18 years old. He was a 2020 graduate of Blind Brook High School, where he was known and loved as a kind and generous person, according to his obituary.  He had just completed his first semester at Iona College. Sage loved football and was a huge Steelers fan. He also loved basketball and the WWE.  Sage was the oldest of five brothers.
