Tappan Zee Bridge Toll Set To Increase: Here's When, How Much Drivers crossing the new Tappan Zee Bridge will soon face a higher toll, according to the New York State Thruway Authority. The increase will go into effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, with a 50-cent hike to the base NY E-ZPass toll rates and tolls-by-mail that began in 2024 and will continue each year through 2027, when it hits $7.75. The annual price increase means E-Z pass users will begin paying $6.75 on New Year's Day. Water Shutdown Scheduled For Stretch Of Croton-On-Hudson Homes There will be a temporary road closure and lack of water service in Croton-on-Hudson on Thursday as crews work to replace equipment in the area. The Croton-on-Hudson Water Department will be replacing a valve along Maple Street on Oct. 4, prompting a water shut off in the area of Maple Street and Old Post Road South. The shutdown is scheduled for approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, and should last approximately two hours. Tragic Mianus Bridge Collapse Along I-95 Marks 35th Anniversary On this day in 1983, a part of the Mianus River Bridge collapsed.  Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured.  At about 1:30 a.m., on June 28, 1983, a 100-foot span of Interstate 95 in Greenwich collapsed into the Mianus River in one of the most infamous American bridge disasters of the 20th century.  A car and two tractor-trailers careened over the edge of I-95. The death toll could have been significantly higher if the collapse occurred during rush hour, officials said.
