SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y.--Two arrested for disorderly conduct after fight
A large fight was reported to be in progress around 10:30 p.m. on July 4 on Cortlandt St. Police responded and cleared the area of large groups that had begun to form, arresting two for disorderly conduct.
Families fight over Kingsland Point Park spots
Police responded to a report on July 4 around 9 a.m. that two women were fighting over park tables and barbeque. A park employee offered one family the gazebo while the other family stayed in the lawn space.
Man attacks police car
A man was arrested around 10 p.m. on June 30 for disorderly conduct after he reportedly spit and kicked a police car while it was parked on Washington St.
Noise complaint leads to arrest
A woman reported that there was a man yelling and cursing near some trash cans on Valley St. around 9 p.m. on June 30. Police checked the area and found a car near the reported area. After checking, they discovered the man had marijuana in his possession.
Man arrested for marijuana
A vehicle in Kingsland Point Park was checked on June 29 around 9:30 p.m. Police found the 18-year-old driver, a Chappaqua resident, was in possession of marijuana and was arrested, charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He will appear in court on July 11.
Oil spilled on Cortlandt St.
Police responded to Cortlandt Street for an oil spill on June 19 around 2 p.m. An oil delivery had been made and there was a spill. The driver had already left the scene. The building inspector and fire chief responded. There was no contamination to any residences, the company was identified and contacted a cleanup crew to respond. The driver of the oil truck was issued summonses.
Car rolls over
A report of an accident was received on June 29 around 11 a.m. Police, Fire and Ambulance personnel responded to Route 9 at Hemlock Drive where a northbound 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee had rolled over, driver reporting she swerved to avoid a vehicle stopped to make a left turn. She was transported to Phelps hospital. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Motorcycle racing
Police responded to a complaint of motorcycle racing through Philipse Manor on Bellwood Ave. around 8 p.m. on June 27. Officers spoke to one driver and issued a summons for operating out of class, as the driver has a motorcycle permit only. Another driver was found to have a suspended license, but he explained that he had fixed his suspension problem. Police told him to bring proof to headquarters.
Teen found wandering near Mount Pleasant
A woman called police around 6:30 p.m. on June 27 after a male teenager flagged her down on Sleepy Hollow Road near the Mount Pleasant Town line asking for directions to Route 9. The teen then proceeded to wander aimlessly, and the woman was concerned that he was a runaway or in some kind of trouble. Police responded, but the teen had left by the time they got there.
Gas pipe struck on Valley St.
A site manager contacted police around 3:45 p.m. on June 27 to report that his underground utilities company had struck a gas pipe. The fire department cleared a nearby building and closed off the street. Con Edison was called.
Woman says she was hit by van
A woman came to police headquarters around 9 a.m. on June 27 saying she was hit by a van, but not knocked down, while walking on Beekman Ave. past Greene County. Police looked for the van, but it had left. The driver of the vehicle later came into police headquarters about an hour later saying that the woman banged on the van with her hand as he was backing up. He reported that as soon as she did so, he immediately stopped. He said he told the woman to wait and he would call police. He went inside the store and when he came out, the woman had gone.
Van hits tree
A 1995 Chevrolet Sport Van traveling south on Route 9 when the driver reported he fell asleep and the vehicle veered left across traffic lanes and struck a tree around 5:30 a.m. on June 27. The driver was transported to the hospital by the Sleepy Hollow ambulance and the vehicle towed from the scene.
Neighbor accuses neighbor of dumping rotten fruit
A woman reported that she found rotten fruit dumped in her lawn on Pine Close and that a child safety street sign was missing on June 26. The woman believed her neighbor was responsible for dumping the fruit in her yard. Police advised the woman and her neighbor to avoid each other. Police filed a report for the missing sign.
Fight reported, but not found
Tarrytown police reported that a fight had broken out in front of La Fogata on Beekman Ave. at 3 a.m. on June 26. When police got there, they found a large crowd dispersing but no fight in progress. One apparently drunk man had minor scratches and bleeding on his face. Police offered medical help three times, but the man refused.
