The spring weather cooperated and the 1,601 ducks were adopted and raced in the annual Rotary fundraiser, according to JoAnne Murray.
"Our amazing emcee, Bob Kimmel, from the Hudson Independent, kept people engaged in the race and all the events going on," Murray said.
Duck Catchers at the Finish Line were Tarrytown Superintendent of Schools Chris Clouet, along with Ben Cauthren and Jim Cassamo.
"Many Rotarians helped make the day a success and we had volunteers from the Girl Scouts and Irvington Immaculate Conception Church teens and Sleepy Hollow High School Interact students," Murray said. "The winner of the Grand Prize was Val Dugan, who graciously gave half of the prize money back to the Club."
Murray attributed the success of the event to the commitment of Hope Hose and Conquerer Fire Departments, the Tarrytown Recreation Department and Tarrytown DPW with a special thanks to the Tarrytown Ambulance Corp, which kept the Rotary Ducks hydrated between races.
The Rotary Club also thanked sponsors, Tarrytown Honda, Tompkins Mahopac Bank, Sam's Club, The Marriott, Allan Block Insurance, On Track Sports, and Capri Pizza.
"Each year, the Fire Department amazes us with the time and effort they put into making this a success," Murray said. "The Ducks couldn't walk the park were it not for the care the Ambulance Corp gives us. The Rotary Club is so appreciative of the help from everyone, including the community, that makes this event a success."
All monies raised go back to the community in the form of grants and scholarships.
