Lieblich will receive the group's Spirit Award, which recognizes an individual who gives tirelessly of his or her time and talent to MHA and the people it serves, demonstrating leadership and compassion.
The dinner will be held at the Metropolis Country Club in White Plains. The annual event benefits and builds mental health services in Westchester.
Soon after retiring,. Lieblich read an article in AARP Magazine about the Long Term Care Ombudsmen Program (LTCOP) and was both impressed and intrigued. Upon investigation, he found there was a local LTCOP just one town over housed at MHA Westchester. Soon, he signed up for the training and received an assignment. It is a commitment he has honored for more than a decade.
Margaret Hadad, Director of the LTCOP program, chose Ralph for this honor because “he has the special skills an ombudsman needs to have. We call it ‘the spirit of an ombudsman’, which includes qualities Ralph possesses in spades -- kindness, compassion and the ability to listen well.”
Lieblich and his wife, Peri, live in Irvington and have two daughters and four grandchildren.
Also being honored at the event are Andrew Solomon, winner of the National Book Award for Far From the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity; Dr. Lisa Dixon, MD, MPH, Director, Center for Practice Innovations, NYSPI, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Willa Brody, Director of Government and Community Relations, New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
MHA is a community-based mental health agency that has been helping Westchester County residents for 67 years through direct services, professional and community education and advocacy. For more information about the dinner, visit the MHA website.
