A night of drinking ended with a Long Island man crashing head-on into another car, killing his own brother, prosecutors allege.
Carlos Sanchez-Benitez, age 44, of Wyandanch, was arraigned on nearly a dozen charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, in Suffolk County on Thursday, Oct. 5.
According to prosecutors, Sanchez-Benitez got behind the wheel shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 16, after drinking alcohol at a deli.

Boat Crash Update: ID Released For Man Killed When Vessel Struck West Fire Island Home
Authorities have identified a man who was killed when a boat crashed into a home on Long Island, sending a second man to the hospital.
The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, on West Fire Island in the Great South Bay.
According to Suffolk County Police, two men were aboard a 30-foot Wellcraft center console boat when it struck a dock before crashing into a home.
On Friday, Aug. 11, police said 47-year-old Phillip Sanzano, of Bellport, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Long Island man has been apprehended after authorities say he fatally stabbed his cousin and injured his cousin’s girlfriend.
Wilson Felipe Andrade-Molina, age 37, stabbed his cousin, Luis Miguel Andrade-Cando, at their place of employment, located on Oser Avenue in Hauppauge, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, Suffolk County Police said.
Andrade-Molina, of Brentwood, then drove to Charter Oaks Avenue in Brentwood and stabbed Andrade-Cando’s girlfriend at approximately 8:05 a.m., according to police.

Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol officers, along with an SCPD Fifth Precinct officer, responded to a 911 call reporting a woman in labor in a vehicle on the right shoulder of the westbound LIE, near Exit 53 in Brentwood, just after 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26.

A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Long Island that injured three others.
The crash took place in Islandia, Thursday, Sept. 29, on Veterans Memorial Highway around 7:10 p.m.
According to Suffolk County detectives, Jose Roberto Garcia was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala northwest on Veterans Memorial Highway and making a left turn on Suffolk Avenue, when the vehicle was struck by a 2015 Audi A4 traveling southeast.
The Impala overturned, landing right side up, police said.

Brentwood Man Killed After Colliding With Truck
A man was killed after his vehicle collided with a truck on Long Island.
The victim was riding a 2020 Suzuki motorcycle around 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, in Brentwood near Wicks Road when the crash occurred.
An investigation found that Wayne Smith, age 47, of Brentwood, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a southbound 2020 Freightliner truck, said the Suffolk County Police.
Smith was taken via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the truck, Misael Jiminez, age 63, of Islip, was not injured.
