Reward Offered After Woman's Death Outside Long Island Store Ruled As Homicide Police are hoping a cash reward will lead to an arrest in the killing of a woman who was found dead outside a Long Island business on Valentine’s Day. Officers in South Hempstead responded to a call about a woman lying on the ground next to a dumpster behind an Advanced Auto Parts, located at Grand Avenue and May Street, at around 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The woman, who Nassau County Police identified Thursday afternoon as 39-year-old Rebecca Carlson, of Hempstead, was pronounced dead at the scene. ID Released For 28-Year-Old Killed In Long Island Crash The identity has been released of a 28-year-old motorcyclist killed in an overnight Long Island crash. The crash happened at 8:50 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, in South Hempstead. According to detectives, a 2019 white Acura sedan traveling westbound on Village Avenue was struck by a 2009 Gold Honda motorcycle traveling north on Grand Avenue, Nassau County Police said. The motorcyclist, now ID'd as Sherif Wheeler, of Baldwin, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The driver of the Acura, a 28-year-old woman, was uninjured, police said. Shell Casings Found After Shots Fired On Long Island Street Police are asking the public for help after locating two shell casings on a Long Island street following a call for shots fired. The incident took place around 1:50 a.m., Monday, July 19, on Grand Avenue near the border of South Hempstead and Baldwin. According to Nassau County Police detectives, officers responded to a call for shots fired in front of 1177 Grand Ave. Upon arrival, officers recovered two shell casings from the street.  There were no injuries or property damage reported. The investigation is ongoing. Police request anyone with information regarding the above incident …
