Store Shut Down For Selling Illegal Assault Weapons, Suffolk DA Says A Long Island sporting goods store has been shut down and its owner is facing charges for allegedly illegally selling assault weapons and ammo, officials said. Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini announced on Thursday, Jan. 9 that St. James resident Chester Pergan, 53, the owner of Chester’s Hunting and Fishing store in Ronkonkoma, pleaded not guilty to a 69-count indictment charging him with weapons offenses.
